love from an internetcafe in berlin

i wanted to buy this but it was expensive.

hash cake. 6 euros.= two very high people

funny shit. this was a fish market i went to.

lots and lots of street art everywhere. this was a cool one i ran into. it was high up on a building.

if you ever find this beer, drink it becasue it is awesome. la chouffe.

this is made for people to not piss on the street. it s a urinal out in the open.. for men only of course.. but you can clearly see the persons face.. this is on a very busy street.

look how bright it is at ten pm

cafe

this monument is made for... no shit.. it really is, for gay people. kent and i both thought it was a funny name for a monument made for something else.. nope.. its a bad name for a monument for gay people. hahahahaha

this was one of the only proper meals i ate in holland

kent and i rode bikes around amsterdam for most of the week

CHECK OUT THIS GUY I THOUGHT IT WAS JOHN!

snake wanted to be hawaiian and go to the heineken brewing factory.

windmills in holland. of course

vicky and i not very in our right minds.

funniest name for a coffee shop ever. this is in hamburg .. ive had a lot of fun finding foreign words that are funny in english.

the berlin wall.. what is left of it

checkpoint charley in berlin. the former place where east berliners tried to escape to west berlin at. the usa didnt want to give any credit to the ussr, so they only made a little tiny post.

this was that irani protest that i joined in on.

i have done a lot of this.. looking out the window of trains

this is the memorial to jews who died in europe during wwII. it was really cool it was like an illusion. the blocks didnt look like they rose very much, but the ground sank and the illusion was awesome.

of course you eat this in germany. sold everywhere.. meat is sold all over the place.. and if you buy some sort of schnitzle, you get bread with it.

there was a music festival in berlin. this was just one of many many bands playing on the street. well this was just a guy who sounded like johnny cash, but i was at another place looking down on them. i was listening to jewish rock. no shit. they all looked like mati syahou or however you spell his name. and one of the guys played the acordian.. fucking great

taking it easy in berlin, sorta
these past two days have bounced me all round the city of berlin. i messed up my scheduling and thought that my friends were going to be here from the 20th to the 24th... turns out that its actually the 24th thru the 28th. stupid me. anyway ive been chilling out here in berlin. did that crazy pub crawl and drank myself silly with a bunch of people that i just met. lots of stories came from that night but i dont remember if i blogged about it so im just going to overview it for the moment. went to one bar with an ozzy guy i met in a tour that we both did. then we went to another bar in the pouring ass rain. oh yeah the pub crawl included a free shot of jagermeister with every purchase of any drink. needless to say, the ozzy was missing after the third bar. i hope he got home safe. my liver is in top shape so i got silly but i remember everything. at the last club i did a bit of dancing with three girls i had met earlier in the evening. some australian girls living in london. actually one of them was from brazil. bad story comes with that chic. she sets her purse down on the dance floor and someone ends up stealing it. camera, passport, wallet, everything important got stolen. sucks for her. yeah later on some security guys found her passport and other random shit from her purse a block away. good for her she at least got that back, but she said that she had a thousand euros in her wallet. i say shes stupid for having that much money but she was histarical. that happened at the end of the night. needless to say, it was a complete buzzkill. oh i did see something really funny while looking for her wallet. two people from the pub crawl (a guy and a girl) were completely ass naked having sex in a super dirty parking lot. gross.
today i went grocery shopping and hopefully i dont go out tonight. i need to give my body a rest. i said that last night and ended up at a really really grungy punk bar (which are quite popular out here it seems). me and the three other people i went with were the only clean people in there. it was awesome. very nice punk rockers by the way. they had zero chip on their shoulders like some american punkers tend to be. they were buying shots and chatting it up with us foreigners. the people i went with were french canadian and scottish. and of course japanese-american me. i expected a little bit of dirty looks, but there was none of it.
this city is very open and has changed a ton from only twenty years ago. im staying in former east berlin, where if the building space was not bought and torn down, usually a squat house remains with tons of graffiti and dirty looking people squatting in it. its a very unusual sub-culture out here. i recommend anyone to come check out berlin one day. it is very safe around here.
im boiling water at the moment. have to go soften up some noodles.
love from here

berlin=nice
so i guess ill start off by telling you about my night in hamburg. i was staying in this really nice hostel.. two bedrooms, six beds. i had my own room, and two english fellows were bunking in the main room. the guys names were ben and john. they were young boys, 18 and 19. they wanted to party so i said "fuck it" and i joined them. they were pretty shy and didnt have any balls to walk up to girls and start conversations so i had to do that all night. but it paid off. i ran across a couple of cute german girls sitting in a quiet bar in st. pauli (the red light district). turns out they were high school girls out to party. the drinking age is 18, and they have 13 years of schooling here.. so everyone in highschool can pretty much drink. anyway i approached them and they were really nice. the two guys were happy for the rest of the night.. we bar hopped for a bunch of hours.
beer in germany is half the price of beer in holland. and it tastes better. anyway i woke up early and checked out. went to hamburg train station and there was all kinds of action. huge protest against irans president. gigantic protest about the past election. i actually joined in. got a cool sign that says "wheres my vote?" got a bunch of pics that i will share when i get to a good computer.. that day must be coming up soon i hope. wish i could show you guys right now.
so from hamburg i took a train to berlin. it was only an hour and a half train ride. i fell asleep the whole time. i had my own personal compartment. first class! i guess i get what i pay for. yeah so i get into town and check in with no problems. i went for a walk and just ran into all kinds of cool historical shit. this town is alive man. bars and cafes and museums all over the place. saw a building with bulletholes and all kinds of damage from WWII... no signs or anything.. its really interesting. you know what else is weird...? you know how when a drunk person comes up to you on the streets in america, people tend to shy away and scuttle off? out here in germany, most people start conversations. its awesome. a completely slobbering drunk will go up to just about anyone and say some stupid shit, and the person on the receiving end of that stupid comment will start talking to them. awesome.
oh yeah, and the gutter punk population out here in gigantic. lots of squat houses and dirty mohawks out here. real dirty gutter punks. its great.
i didnt drink tonight. glad to have a day of rest. hopefully ill have another rest day tomorrow.
ill be here in berlin for the next full week. maybe ill take a day trip somewhere else.
love from berlin,

hamburg part 2
well i just got a new internet card, and i dont see what i just posted, hopefully it will post soon.
yeah so after that shady place in the redlight, i woke up early today to figure out how to get to my proper hostel. got on the subway, got to where i had to go.. but turns out it was raining in this end of town, so i walked half a mile in the rain. that sucked, but luckily i had run out of clothes and was already wearing my rubba slippas. hahaha.. this new hostel is nice. it has a kitchen and nice looking shit everywhere. and a laundry room. good shit.
anyway, i dont know what im going to do here. i leave tomorrow. but im sure ill get into some silly crap. from all the brochures it looks like there is a ton of history here too. im off to berlin tomorrow to meet up with some homies from hilo. thats going to be a blast. i guess i should figure out where my hostel is out there so i dont have the same stupid hangup.
oh yeah... youll all be happy to learn that this computer looks like it will accept my pictures. right now my camera is in the luggage room, but when i have more free time later, ill try and get something up.
love from hamburg, where the people who live here are all hamburgers

cold in hamburg
im doing laundry right now. and let me just give a warning, if i spell shit wrong, its because the computers here have a slightly different keyboard configuration. i cant seem to find the correct punctuation, and the y and zs are switched. and the apostrophy is nowhere to be found.
that out of the way, i went from amsterdam to somewhere in germany, there i had to switch trains and go to hamburg. each 2 hour train rides. the ride from somewhere to hamburg was running thirty minutes late so i had some time to fuck around... but that made me late getting into hamburg... the first thing that i did when i got there was walk around blindly looking for my hostel. i didnt have reservations for lastnight so i thought i would just go to the one i was planning on staying at, and asking for a room for that evening too.. BUT it was a 15 minute train ride away. i had no idea. anyway i ended up in the redlight district just searching for a place that would house me for the evening. i was exhausted. didnt sleep much the night before, and traveling is tiring. so i found a super shady place and crashed.. shit my internet is going to run out.. ill post another time

last hours in amsterdam
i'm packed and ready to go. nothing going on at the moment.. had breakfast and lunch walked around... said hello to the familiar faces that weve seen around for the past week here in holland... i'm off to hamburg pretty soon. ive taken a lot of pics.. dont have a place to stay in hamburg this evening.. i hope it all works out.. i'm pretty nervous about getting there late at night and being stuck on the streets... we'll see.. i have a place for the next day... maybe they'll have a computer that i can upload pictures onto... anyway just wanted to check in with you guys and let you know that i'm fine.
oh yeah! vicky johnston/vinzen? came out yesterday! that was fucking awesome.. same old vicky.. except she lives on the holland/german boarder.. and she's MARRIED. weird.
anyway we shared a hash cake and got SUPER FUCKING high. it was funny as hell. i smoked a quarter of a spliff (half weed half tobacco) and got all weird the other night... but i decided to give the THC another try... and low and behold, the shit worked. it was a funny experience.. vicky and I were laughing at nothing for fourty five minutes. then we dropped her off at the train station and she was on her way.
that was hilarious because i was high for another 6 hours. hahaha.. went out that night anyway and drank with six chic's that i met at the hostel.. nice last night.
anyway more to come later.
lots of love

another day, another spent dollar
today was a pretty productive day.. another day on the computer that doesnt upload photos.. so this is what i did.. i went around on the bicycles that kent and I rented.. it was fun.. we went to a couple museums.. the rjichkdf kr museum (i know i spelled that wrong) and the anne frank museum/house. that was cool too. we ate some delicious middle eastern food.. and after relaxing in the room for a bit, kent sailed off to meet up with a girl that hes trying to hook up with.. i decided to stay behind and test my luck with some hostel girls.. and as luck had it, litterally one minute later, i was kicking back with six girls visiting from michigan who had just got into town.. i took them around the red light district. that was nice.
after they decided to go to bed, i met up with a group from georgia and sat around with them for a while.. i guess when youre solo, people are really easy to talk to you. things are good.. right now everyone went out and i wasn't trying to have a big night again.. .. i'll just be solo for the evening.. but it's late already. bed time i hope.
all i can hope for right now is that kent get's some muff. i feel bad for that guy stuck in iraq with no ladies around. he needs some action every few months.
amsterdam is beautiful. i know i said that before, but the streets are super clean.. then clean them up every day.
it's good shit.
anyway. i'm tired. ready for sleep.
kisses and hugs my friends
shane
and for john and chaz, the only guys who i know read this.. big ups to you both.
much love

more amsterdam
still on the same computer... let me explain why i wont go to another internet cafe.. because its FIVE EUROS an hour anywhere else.. at my place its only euro... i'm not paying that shit.. and the connection is fast.. it just wont let me upload photos.. so for now.. sorry about that.
so kent and i have been going out on those walking tours and drinking in the evening.. i think we have walked down every street of inner amsterdam.. probably literally. there are canals cutting through every street so its really easy to get lost.. but we finally figured out some of the major landmarks, and learned how to use the map. the first day we didnt even have a map.. that was very annoying.. anyway today we get bikes and go outside the main city. i'm getting the bike for three days. hopefully kent does too because i'm sick of walking. i need to peddle my ass over to the train station and book an overnight train somewhere. dont know where just yet.. i should start thinking about that because i need to work out a place to stay.. normally i wouldn't mind sleeping in a park or something. but north europe is still cold at night. i might die.
anyway i'm going to start my day now. i'll keep you posted.

AMSTERDAM
yeah so i'm here in amsterdam in my hostel... unfortunately this internet here doesnt allow me to upload photos.. soo youre just going to get narration. good for you.
anyway i got into amsterdam late lastnight becasue my plane got delayed because of fucking crazy winds in copenhaagen. fucking crazy by the way.. i was actually a little worried that we shouldnt be flying in that type of weather.. anyway i got in around 9 PM.. .and to my suprise, the sun was still blazing.. that's right... anyway i got to my hostel and met up with kent again..(we took seperate flights).. oh and by the way im using a regular keyboard ? SEE.. anyway i met up with kent and we got COMPLETELY fucking lost walking around the city.. it was cool.. the sun stayed out till 11PM... we watched the lakers win in overtime at some bar in the redlight district.. all the bartenders were completely slobbering drunk so it was almost impossible to get a beer unless they knew you or something...
anyway we walked around the redlight, then got lost and walked across town about 3 times before we finally pulled our heads out of our asses and figured shit out... oh yeah and by the way the stupid sun starts coming back up at 3AM. goddam crazy shit i tell you.
its still cold as fuck out here at night (the whole 4 hours of it).. but the days are hot. we walked around this beautiful city today.. saw a lot of cool shit. i sent you*(john) a post card today. i saw it at this open market and thought it was stupid.
everythings pretty expensive out here.
at copenhaagen airport i spent ten fucking dollars on a small sandwich and a coke. no shit.. that fucking place is the most expensive shit ever.
i guess i should stop bitching. there are cheap places and things to eat..
beer is VERY expensive here in holland.
ive taken pictures of the food ive consumed, and snake is getting some cool pictures in there too.
i guess thats all for now.. at the moment its about five PM.. i cant call it evening yet because the sun is still very high in the sky.
dont know if i'll sleep very well for the rest of the week..
i'll keep you posted and hopefully i'll be able to find a place where i can put my photos online.
maybe in germany
as for the chic's... no luck thusfar... didnt have ANY opportunities in italy because i was staying at my friend's mom's house.. but out here, fucking chic's are scared at night.. and during the day... .well this if my first day so i dont really know. the redlight district is pretty scary (if youre a girl).. lots of crazy looking people trying to sell you stupid shit.
ok.. i think that's about it.
eat a dick.

lazy
let me first start off by saying that i hate italian keyboards.. i cant find the right punctuation ever the at mark can only be attained by pressing alt and where the semi colon normally is. the question mark is shift equal.... and i cant find apostrophy for the life of me.. so dont mind my grammar.
im way too lazy to get my camera and upload pictures.. plus i didnt take any pics today..
heres my day... I cant find the colon.
I woke up at nine AM and layed down with the two dogs that live here in the house.. i sat on the balcony of the huge fucking house and stared at chics across the street laying on the beach. there was one bomb shell that was hanging out with her mom and grandma.. i assume thats what they were because they all looked the same.. anyway i did that for about an hour or so then i decided to head down to the beach with kent. (when he woke up).. by the way the ( and the ) are shifted over to the left. fucking keyboard... and the worst part is im using an american keyboard, with the italian program... ok enough of that... so we went down to the beach at around ten thirty with a twelve pack and some sun screen.. the waves here are dismal at best... but after about five hours of laying around and staring at chics, the wind picked up and created some fun shore pound.. it was no sandys, but it was fun enough.. a solid two feet i would say.
anyway.. .. i guess i should start by saying that the sun rises easily before five AM and it doesnt think about getting dark until 9PM. pretty ridiculous... so i get home from the beach.. take a nap.. then go to this cool little fishing town thats all hip now... we went to a nice restaurant with kent, his mom, her husband and a couple friends of theirs... we walk in.. walk up three flights of stairs to the roof.. dont say anything.. dont order, and we already have bread and a bottle of wine and a sparkling water... we drink that and eat it quickly.. and drink another bottle of wine.. then we start to get food.. then we get more food.. in all we got AT LEAST ten courses and polished off five bottles of wine.. after dinner they put a HANDLE of scotch, a bottle of grappa, and a bottle of lemon cello on the table, along with six coffees... let me remind you that we didnt ORDER anything.. this is what you get when you come to this restaurant aparrently.. if you drink a bottle of wine, theyll change it out for you.. so yeah.. we finish the lemon cello and have a few shots of scotch... needless to say the food was awesome, the service was cool, and we didnt have to order or do anything.. we just sat down. no need for talking or anything.. if all restaurants were like that, it would be perfecto.
anyway tomorrow morning i have to wake up at SIX and head to rome to catch a flight to amsterdam.
its currently one thirty AM and im slightly buzzed still.
life is good.
ciao
im way too lazy to get my camera and upload pictures.. plus i didnt take any pics today..
heres my day...
(when he woke up).. by the way the ( and the ) are shifted over to the left. fucking keyboard... and the worst part is im using an american keyboard, with the italian program... ok enough of that... so we went down to the beach at around ten thirty with a twelve pack and some sun screen.. the waves here are dismal at best... but after about five hours of laying around and staring at chics, the wind picked up and created some fun shore pound.. it was no sandys, but it was fun enough.. a solid two feet i would say.

of coure this is snake saying goodbye to his brother also named snake. hes joining me on my euro trip first stop ... NY
hanging out with the douche.
cold chillin with the hooksters
mr snake chillin out in central park
ran into carnagie hall.. i think i spelled that wrong.. i was just walking around blindly in the city and ran into this famous place.
gracie hooked it up fat the first night.. total VIP status part on the penthouse of this new hotel. famous people, models, designers.. whatever.. open bar is what i was talking about.. didnt get many good pics of this spot, but this is one of the 2 open bars
went to the museum of natural history... its where they filmed night at the museum. it was distracting to be trying to learn shit, then remembering stupid scenes from that dumb movie.
this is the john lennon memorial thing in central park. pretty famous shit.
this pic is sideways, but its solid crystal just sitting around in some shopping mall. i got a lot of pics of this little spot, but snake is hiding in this picture
guy i graduated with from hilo lives in long island. he came to say whats up for a couple hours. we had a papaya dog... its a regular hotdog, but served with a papaya drink. two dogs (with kraut) and a 16 oz papaya juice for 4 dollars.. thats including tax.. wonderful stuff
this here is of a show in central park that they have every summer... summer stage as its called.. a band called TV on the radio played. i highly reccomend you checking them out... i know that they are a great live band )(as grace has told me).. the stuff that i heard from them online wasnt too good... but i think they were AWESOME live. even though it was cold and rainy the whole time
grace and I walked across the brooklyn bridge and met up with some of gracies friends at this annual craft fair. that was fun
these were two of gracies friends that took me out afterwards in brooklyn, i had to find my way back to gracies house.. good times
this is grace and her (i dont know what he is) guy friend peter. peter and gracie hooked it up fat for the nine inch nails and janes addiction concert. this is backstage while NIN was playing. (none of us really like NIN so we just sat back there and waited for Janes to get on stage.
ok so this is after i got off my flight from dublin to rome. these girls sat across from me on the train from the rome airport to the main rome train station. they spoke great english, which is more than i can say for the rest of italy. they just arrived in rome from sicily. the one in the middle is auditioning for some reality TV show for italians with talent. shes a singer i guess
this is the view from where im staying now. this place has like 6 bedrooms, and a 180 degree view of beautiful beach... its hard to describe how nice this place is. cheese is a million times better than cheese ive ever had in america. meat is served with everything... i like that.. lap of luxary for the moment
the city of naples has an extensive underground built by romans 2000 years ago. this is the entrance to it
had to stop for a pose.
pizza was invented in naples. and the place where i got this pizza is one of the oldest. this is how they gave it to me. got the fullon history of pizza, which im not going to get into.. but its fucking awesome out here. one euro for this big ball of pizza goodness.
so this is all the time i have for you. hope you like some of these pictures.
love you all. post me a comment you fuckers
